Motorised terminal retention force testers for automotive wire harness connectors — programmable pull speed, LVDT displacement sensing, and automatic pass/fail evaluation per UL 486A-486B, USCAR-21, and IEC 60352.
WPT Series
Terminal retention — the pull force required to remove a crimped terminal from its connector housing — is a critical quality parameter in automotive wire harness manufacturing. Insufficient retention leads to terminal push-back, intermittent electrical faults, and costly warranty returns.
AGMPL's WPT Series pull-out testers provide motorised, programmed pull force measurement with LVDT displacement feedback — generating complete force-displacement curves for every terminal tested. Three models cover the full range from fine instrument wiring to heavy EV battery cables.
Configurations
Standard Equipment
Any rate from 1 to 300 mm/min; stored test profiles instantly recall standard setups for UL 486A, USCAR-21, or OEM-specific pull speeds.
Captures pull distance with 0.01 mm resolution alongside force, generating the complete force-displacement curve for every terminal tested.
Configurable force thresholds per wire gauge and terminal type; red/green result display with audible buzzer for zero-ambiguity operator feedback.
Modular jaw sets accommodate round, flat, and ribbon cables; quick-change fixture plates mount connector-body clamps for sealed or unsealed terminals.
Windows-based application with real-time force-displacement graph, batch test sequencing, SPC charts (Cp/Cpk), and PDF report output with component data.
All load cells supplied with NABL-accredited calibration certificates; uncertainty budget meets ISO 7500-1 Class 0.5 requirements.
Compliance
Specifies minimum pull-out retention forces by wire gauge (AWG) for crimped wire connectors used in North American electrical and automotive applications.
Defines terminal retention requirements for sealed automotive connector systems, specifying minimum pull-out force at 25 mm/min test speed across the full wire gauge range.
International standard specifying mechanical and electrical requirements for crimped connections, including axial pull-out force testing methodology and minimum retention values.
