In-line crimp force monitoring system for 100% production quality assurance — captures force-displacement waveforms on every crimp stroke, compares against a golden reference, and issues real-time GO/NO-GO output to the press.
CFA Series
A single defective crimp — a missing wire strand, wrong gauge, or damaged terminal — can cause an intermittent electrical fault that costs orders of magnitude more to diagnose in the field than the harness itself is worth. Crimp force monitoring is the only method that evaluates 100% of production crimps in real time.
AGMPL's CFA Series crimp force analyzers mount directly on the crimp press ram and capture the complete force-displacement waveform during every stroke. Each waveform is compared against a stored golden reference with configurable tolerance bands — any deviation triggers an immediate press stop and reject signal.
Configurations
Standard Equipment
Digitises the complete crimp stroke at up to 5,000 samples per stroke; every waveform is stored for full production traceability and warranty audit.
Percentage-based or absolute tolerance bands set independently at any waveform point — detecting both global force deviations and localised shape anomalies from worn dies or wrong materials.
Every single crimp is evaluated without sampling; eliminates sorting costs and field warranty returns from escaped defective crimps reaching vehicle assembly.
24 V DC digital output triggers press interlock or part-reject gate within one crimp cycle — the defective part never reaches the next operation.
Cp/Cpk charts per press, per shift, and per terminal type; reject log with timestamp and waveform snapshot stored on internal SSD; CSV and PDF export for quality records.
A single CFA-200 controller monitors up to 8 press channels; supervisor workstation displays live GO/NO-GO status and SPC trends for all presses on one screen.
Compliance
Defines performance requirements for sealed automotive connector systems, including crimp quality criteria and terminal retention — applicable to all connectors on North American and global OEM platforms.
Requirements and acceptance criteria for cable and wire harness assemblies — includes crimp quality classification (Class 1/2/3), acceptable waveform characteristics, and inspection criteria.
Compliance with customer-specific crimp force monitoring requirements from major Indian OEMs and their Tier-1 suppliers — CFA systems are configurable to any OEM golden waveform specification.
