Computerised motorised test system for qualifying steering wheel strength, bending rigidity, and pad rigidity — from small car wheels to heavy truck steering assemblies.

Model CWSM
The CWSM is AG Measurematics' proven motorised material testing machine adapted specifically for steering wheel qualification. It applies controlled force at any desired point of a steering wheel fitted at any desired angle — enabling comprehensive structural testing per automotive OEM and regulatory requirements.
Standard capacity of 500 kgf is ideal for passenger car steering wheels, while configurations up to 5 000 kgf accommodate commercial vehicle and truck assemblies. The integrated Test-Mate SW software delivers real-time load–deflection graphs and automated pass/fail reports.
Technical Data
Specifications subject to change as a result of continuous development.
Standard Equipment
Full computer control of test setup, machine operation, measurement, data storage, and report generation — no manual intervention required during testing.
Steering wheel can be mounted at any desired angle, allowing force application at any point to simulate real-world loading conditions.
Real-time Load vs Deflection graph on screen, pre-stored setup files for quick test start, data archival on hard disk, and on-demand report generation.
Comprehensive reports with Load vs Displacement graph, company logo, component picture, pass/fail status, and operator remarks — generated immediately or on demand.
Robust floor-standing frame with motorised crosshead drive ensures smooth, consistent force application from 10 to 500 mm/min.
Standard 500 kgf capacity with machine configurations available up to 5 000 kgf — covering steering wheels from small cars to heavy trucks.
Test Capabilities
Measures the steering wheel's resistance to bending deformation under a defined static load, verifying structural stiffness meets OEM specifications.
Evaluates the rigidity of the steering wheel pad/hub area under controlled compression to ensure airbag module retention and occupant safety.
Applies increasing force until failure or a defined limit to determine the ultimate bending strength of the steering wheel assembly.
What's Included
Optional Accessory
Digital camera for capturing and printing component pictures directly in the test report.
Computer with LCD monitor, UPS, and laser printer supplied separately.
