TRAVIS Junker Bolt Vibration Testing System

Automated transverse vibration tester for characterising the loosening behaviour of bolted joints — available in fixed and variable displacement configurations from M6 to M24.

TRAVIS Junker Bolt Vibration Testing System

TRAVIS Series

Overview

The TRAVIS is a computerised Junker-method test system that subjects bolted connections to controlled transverse vibrations, revealing how clamp load degrades over cycles. It produces repeatable loosening characteristic data per DIN 25201-4 and DIN 65151.

Two configurations cover M6–M16 at up to 120 kN (Fixed Displacement) and M6–M24 at up to 200 kN with adjustable stroke of 0.5–3 mm (Variable Displacement) — making a single machine suitable for automotive fasteners through to heavy structural bolts.

  • Fixed & Variable displacement models
  • M6 to M24 bolt sizes supported
  • Clamp load capacity up to 200 kN
  • DIN 25201-4 and DIN 65151 compliant
  • Automated PDF test reports

Standard Equipment

Key Features

Real-Time Clamp Force Monitoring

Clamping force is measured and displayed continuously throughout the test — no post-processing required.

Computerised CDAQ System

Dedicated data acquisition hardware captures bolt load signals with high accuracy and minimal noise.

Live Clamp-Load vs. Cycle Graph

Loosening behaviour plotted in real time on screen as clamp load against vibration cycle count.

Automated Test Reports

Pass/fail reports generated automatically at test completion and output to printer or PDF.

Repeatable Transverse Vibration

Precision mechanical drive delivers consistent displacement amplitude cycle after cycle, per DIN requirements.

Variable Displacement Control

Variable model allows stroke to be set anywhere from 0.5 to 3 mm to match specific DIN test conditions.

Compliance

Applicable Standards

DIN 25201-4

Design Guidelines for Railway Vehicles

Specifies requirements for bolted connections subject to transverse dynamic loads in rail vehicle applications, including the test methodology for vibration-induced loosening.

DIN 65151

Aerospace Fastener Vibration Test

Defines the transverse vibration test method (Junker test) for evaluating the self-loosening resistance of fasteners under dynamic loading across aerospace and automotive assemblies.
